In a fascinating experimental study with sheep, Dr. Prashanthan Sanders from Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia, overfed sheep so that they developed sustained obesity for 72 weeks.
Their fibrosis increased. Their atria were damaged by fibrotic tissue replacing normal atria muscle.
